Authorities investigating fatal shooting at Hawk Fuel in Ephrata

EPHRATA – Ephrata Police Department officers were dispatched to the Hawk Fuel station at 785 Basin Street NW at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday evening. Upon arrival law enforcement found one male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

“There was a disturbance and gunfire at the gas pumps,” Ephrata PD Cpt. Troy Froewiss said at the scene. “One male subject is deceased and we don’t have an identity yet at this time.”

Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to arrest a suspect and suspected accomplice shortly after the incident. Investigators felt there was no further threat to the public as of 10 p.m. Sunday.

One witness said she saw first responders administering CPR on a person at the scene when she passed the area a few minutes before 8 p.m.

Froewiss said only the deceased victim had been injured in the shooting.

Froewiss asked that the public avoid the area while investigators process the scene and aid community members affected by the incident.

A press release from the city of Ephrata said further information will be released Monday after investigators have been able to gather more information.
