Wilmington man killed after being hit by vehicle


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man is dead after being struck by a car Saturday afternoon.

Around 3:30 in the afternoon, officers responded to the intersection of Lennon Drive and Market Street.

Police say 33-year-old Mathew Haskins of Wilmington was walking along Market Street when he was hit.

He died from his injuries at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The driver stayed at the scene and spoke with police.

A spokesperson for WPD says this is still an ongoing investigation.
