1 dead, 1 arrested following family fight in Taylorsville, police say


TAYLORSVILLE — A man was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of fatally stabbing his uncle, according to the Taylorsville Police Department.

Damon Michael Rushton, 26, was arrested after police arrived at a Taylorsville home and found him and his uncle’s body, according to the affidavit.

Police read Rushton his rights, and according to the affidavit, Rushton then admitted to stabbing his uncle after the uncle allegedly put Rushton’s brother in a chokehold.

Rushton was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.

Family members told police that the uncle was trying to stop the brother from allegedly assaulting their father, according to the affidavit.
