Suspect Arrested in Deadly Downtown Shooting

San Marcos Police have arrested Jermiah Jayden Tobias, 19, in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday, July 19, near San Antonio & Guadalupe Streets.

Tobias is charged with two counts of Capital Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault. He was taken into custody just after 8 p.m. the same day.

The shooting followed a fight that escalated when another man stole a necklace. Tobias then fired multiple shots, killing Anthony Barrera, 24, at the scene and Alek Pacheco, 20, who later died at the hospital. A third victim was treated and released.
