MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – A Midland man was arrested after police found drugs during a traffic stop.
According to the affidavit, officers attempted a traffic stop around 11:41 p.m. on July 14 for a vehicle with expired registration and no insurance.
The driver, later identified as Edgar Santos, did not stop at first but eventually pulled over near West Wadley Avenue.
When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed Santos was sweating heavily.
The Midland officer asked why he didn’t pull over immediately, Santos said he was looking for a spot to pull over.
When asked about the sweat, Santos looked at his shirt and said, “It’s grease.”
The officer said he was referring to the sweat on his forehead, and Santos replied, that he didn’t know why he was sweating.
The officer asked if Santos had anything illegal in the vehicle he said he had “dispo” in his right pocket.
The affidavit says, Santos was asked to step out of the vehicle and to remove the vape pen from his pocket.
Santos also admitted he had cocaine in his left shirt pocket.
After Santos was detained, officers found a small red bag containing cocaine from his shirt pocket.
When the vehicle was searched, officers found another red bag containing cocaine.
The total weight of the cocaine was 1.09 grams.
Santos was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
He was then transported to the Midland County Central Detention Center.
According to the release, Santos posted a $5,000 bond and is no longer in custody.
