Lanes were closed and traffic was backing up on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) near the I-294 Tri-State Tollway in suburban Burr Ridge after a multi-vehicle crash left at least one person injured.
The crash occurred just before 7:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-55 at milepost 277, Illinois State Police said. At least one person was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries.
ISP went on to say the crash may have stemmed from a medical emergency experienced by one of the drivers involved.
Some northbound lanes were closed, ISP said, though traffic was still getting by. According to TrafficNet, “solid” traffic and backups were reported as far as Cass Avenue.
No further details on the crash or other injuries were provided.
