Two arrested in fatal Glendale shooting; victim is identified as Fort Bragg man

Two people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man in Glendale last week, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) announced.

On July 9, the victim, now identified as Joshua Lee McCollister, 37, of Fort Bragg, Calif., was killed in an apparent shooting inside his home off Glendale Drive. Despite lifesaving efforts by deputies and medical personnel on the scene, officials said McCollister was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division took over the case and identified Danielle Roberta Durand, 41, as a suspect in the murder and obtained a Ramey Warrant for her arrest. On Friday morning, July 11, the HCSO SWAT Team executed an arrest warrant at a home in the 100 block of H Street in Arcata. As SWAT prepared to enter the home, officials said Durand left in a vehicle and was arrested during a traffic stop on Highway 101 near Bayside Cutoff.

Inside the home on H Street, SWAT members found Deunn Antoine Willis, 39. The HCSO said further investigation established Willis as the primary suspect in the murder and he was placed under arrest.

Ultimately, both Durand and Willis were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked on charges of conspiracy, robbery and murder.

The HCSO continues to investigate this case and encourages anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Division. Anyone with information about this case can call the HCSO at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
