The crash happened Sunday at around 10:30 p.m.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police are investigating a crash that left a man dead after a van hit him Sunday night in northeast Albuquerque.
Around 9:48 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a vehicle-and-pedestrian crash in the area of southbound Carlisle Boulevard on the bridge over Interstate 40. They found a person in critical condition. Paramedics took them to the hospital where they later died.
Police investigated and found a tan Chevy van traveled south on Carlisle through a green light at the intersection with the westbound I-40 on-ramp. As the van went south over the bridge, a man ran in front of them with no crosswalk there.
“Additionally, there are low concrete barriers separating the roadway from the sidewalks on the east and west side of the road,” police stated.
According to APD, they didn’t see any signs of impairment with the driver. They also ruled out excessive speed as a factor in this crash.
