Car crash causes gas leak in Magna

SALT LAKE CITY — A car accident caused a gas leak in Magna Friday evening.

Capt. Tony Barker with the Unified Fire Authority said two cars got into an accident, which caused one of the vehicles to run into a gas meter on the side of a house.

Barker said minor injuries were sustained in the car accident.

Following the accident, authorities used a reverse 911 call to warn people within a quarter of a mile of the incident. Barker said some people evacuated the area while others sheltered in place.

At the time of publication, power to the house was shut off and authorities are waiting for Enbridge Gas to cap off the gas lines.
