Shohei Ohtani achieved another milestone on Friday, adding to his remarkable career. This time, he made a splash – literally – in San Francisco Bay.
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ superstar launched his inaugural splash hit at Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. He blasted a first-pitch cutter from All-Star Logan Webb a distance of 410 feet to right field, achieving an exit velocity of 106 mph. A kayaker in McCovey Cove even jumped out of his kayak to snag the souvenir.

This marks the 107th splash hit in the history of Oracle Park and the first by a Dodger since Max Muncy accomplished the feat in 2021.
The home run provided a much-needed boost for the Dodgers, who entered Friday’s game on a six-game losing streak. Their once commanding nine-game lead in the NL West had dwindled to five in just one week.
Ohtani is a strong contender for his fourth MVP award, currently leading the National League in home runs. He is also gradually returning to the mound as a pitcher, scheduled for his fifth start of the season on Saturday. His sixth All-Star Game appearance awaits him on Tuesday.
