Head-on crash in Richland Parish leaves two people dead, one injured


MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The Louisiana State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed two people and injured one person just before 9 p.m. on July 8.

LSP says Billie Myers, 28, of Oak Grove, and James Washington, 59, of Epps, died in the accident, which happened just north of Louisiana Highway 855.

LSP says Alexis Cox, 18, was driving a GMC Terrain, going north on La. Hwy. 17 when she crossed the centerline, causing her to hit the vehicle Myers and Washington were in head-on.

According to LSP, Myers was not wearing a seatbelt.

LSP says Myers was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

LSP says Washington also was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

According to LSP, Cox was wearing a seatbelt and was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
