WHITE LAKE, MI – A 17-year-old is dead and another is injured after a homeowner shot at a group that was breaking into his garage, FOX 2 Detroit reports.
A security system alerted the homeowner to the break-in around 1 a.m. Tuesday, White Lake Township Police said in a news release. Seven people had allegedly entered the detached garage in the 9000 block of Mandon Drive in White Lake Township, Oakland County. The homeowner went outside and allegedly fired several shots at the group. They fled on foot.
Shortly after that, White Lake police officers were notified of one 17-year-old with a gunshot wound at a local hospital and another 17-year-old also suffering from a gunshot wound near that hospital, FOX 2 reports. One of them died of their injuries. The other has been stabilized and remains in the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. The name of the victim who died has not been released.
