Wimbledon tennis preview, pick, & prediction: Andreeva vs. Navarro

Mirra Andreeva and Emma Navarro will get Centre Court treatment for their Wimbledon fourth-round showdown on Monday afternoon.

Centre Court is a well-deserved spot for this one, too, because it projects to be the best match of the last 16 on the women’s side. It is one of four all-seeded matchups and the only one between two top-10 players. Andreeva comes in at No. 7, while Navarro registers at No. 10.

Navarro is bidding for her second consecutive quarterfinal appearance at the All-England Club after beating Naomi Osaka, Diana Shnaider, and Coco Gauff en route to the last eight in 2024. The American has advanced so far this fortnight with victories over Petra Kvitova, Veronika Kudermetova, and defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, dropping just one set to Krejcikova along the way. Thus continues a strong run of form for Navarro, who defeated Osaka and Kostyuk to reach the quarterfinals in Bad Homburg.

Andreeva is looking to a secure a Wimbledon quarterfinal spot for the first time after twice advancing that far at Roland Garros (including the semifinals in Paris two seasons ago). The 18-year-old booked her spot alongside Navarro in this matchup by beating Mayar Sherif, Lucia Bronzetti, and Hailey Baptiste.

Although Andreeva is playing well, it remains to be seen if she has fully recovered from her nightmare Roland Garros quarterfinal loss to massive underdog Lois Boisson. The Russian followed that up by losing to Magdalena Frech in the Berlin first round (6-0 in the third set) and to Linda Noskova in the Bad Homburg second round (6-3, 6-3).

Navarro is a rock-solid opponent who can make opponents beat themselves, which is something that Andreeva has been doing in recent weeks. An upset–albeit a minor one–would be no surprise.

Pick: Navarro in 3
