The Nassau County police have arrested and charged a Lakeview man for allegedly stabbing a driver “multiple times” he had followed after a crash early Sunday in Franklin Square.
Rashawn Marquez, 34, faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, according to a Nassau police news release.
At 4:31 a.m. Sunday, police said, officers arrived at the Franklin Square home of a 20-year-old man to find him with multiple stab wounds.
The man had been involved in an earlier crash, after which, police said, Marquez “followed him and a physical altercation occurred.” Emergency responders transported the stabbing victim to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition Sunday afternoon, police said.
Nassau police detectives took Marquez into a custody later Sunday and charged him with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, as well as third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the release.
Additional details, including why Marquez allegedly followed the man after the crash, the time and location of the collision and whether others were involved, were not immediately released.
Marquez is scheduled for arraignment Monday at Nassau First District Court police said. Information about a possible defense attorney was not available Sunday.
