PYRAMID HIGHWAY, Nev. (KOLO) – Updated at 10 p.m.: There was a fatal one-vehicle wreck on Pyramid Highway around 7:15 p.m. Friday, July 4, after a black GMC Yukon overturned ejecting several people, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Chris Brown.
The preliminary investigation found the Yukon was heading northbound between Sutcliffe Road and Pyramid Lake store when it ran off the road, overcorrected to the left, lost control, and overturned, Brown said.
A juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another juvenile was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A third juvenile had moderate injuries.
The only adult in the SUV had minor injuries.
The final juvenile had no injuries.
Pyramid Highway between Sutcliffe Road and Pyramid Lake store remains closed in both directions.
It is unclear when it will reopen.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: There was a fatal accident on Pyramid Highway near mile marker 29 on Friday, July 4, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Chris Brown.
The highway is closed in both directions between Sutcliffe and Dump roads, which is almost at Pyramid Lake.
