WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – An armed robbery outside a Hamtramck jewelry store ended in an arrest after a police standoff.
The incident occurred on Monday, June 30, when three customers left Gold and Glitter Jewelry in the 10000 block of Joseph Campau Street.
Police said a white Nissan Rogue pulled up next to them, and an unknown Black man got out of the passenger seat with a handgun.
Officials said the unknown man ripped a chain off the neck of one victim, chased another victim who was on crutches, and took his glasses that he had just purchased before then pointing the gun at a woman victim and stealing her purse.
Police said within 30 minutes, Hamtramck detectives had located the two suspects, arresting one while the other fled into a house in Detroit.
Officials said the second suspect was eventually arrested after they surrendered to the police following a standoff.
Leon Devonte Richardson and Michael Edward-Martell Campbell Jr. were arraigned on July 3, 2025, in the 31st District Court, on 19 felony charges, including but not limited to:

Larceny

Larceny of $1,000 or less than $20,000,

CCW
-
Felony firearm
Both individuals received a $500,000 cash or surety bond with a house arrest tether if released.
They were also charged as habitual fourth offenders, which carries a penalty of up to life imprisonment if found guilty.
