MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) – An 18-year-old young man and a 15-year-old girl were arrested after deputies pulled over a vehicle reported stolen in western Kentucky.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a vehicle detected as stolen by the county’s integrated license plate reader network in the area of Cairo Road and Jacob Lane around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 30.
The vehicle had been reported stolen from Murray earlier that morning.
The sheriff’s office said the two people inside the vehicle, Tristan Atkins, of Paducah, and a 15-year-old female driver, were arrested and the vehicle was searched.
Deputies reported finding a handgun, marijuana and additional evidence connecting the Atkins and the girl to other crimes in two other counties across Kentucky.
The sheriff’s office is currently in contact with outside agencies in these cases.
They said the stolen vehicle was returned to the owner and the investigation is ongoing.
Atkins was booked into the McCracken County Jail on receiving stolen property greater than $10,000, unlawful transaction with a minor second-degree, possession of marijuana-firearm enhancement and menacing.
The sheriff’s office said Atkins was also wanted out of Fayette County on robbery and theft warrants.
The 15-year-old was also reportedly charged.
Members of the Ballard County Sheriff’s Office, Paducah Police Department and Bailey’s Wrecker Service assisted at the scene.
