Couple in their 60s ejected and killed in crash involving Amish buggy, authorities say


MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU/Gray News) – Indiana authorities say two people are dead after a pickup truck hit a horse-drawn buggy on Monday evening in Marshall County.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on 8th Road, west of Apple Road.

The Marshall County coroner says the buggy was heading west on 8th Road when it was hit from behind by the truck.

The driver and passenger of the buggy were identified as 62-year-old Aden Chupp and 60-year-old Mary Sue Chupp. They were both ejected and died at the scene.

According to the coroner, they were husband and wife.

Police said the carriage was being pulled by a horse. There was no immediate word given on the horse’s condition.
