JANESVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) — Janesville and Rock County first responders are asking the public to avoid the area of N. Pontiac Drive and Holiday Drive on Tuesday morning for a report of gunshots in the area. According Rock County dispatchers, a call came in about shots being fired around 11 a.m. in the area of the Aspen Square Apartments. Dispatchers said Janesville police, firefighters and EMTs are at the scene. They could not immediately confirm the status of any injuries, calling it an “active incident.” An alert from Janesville police said, “There are no credible threats to the community at this time.” A 27 News viewer who lives in the area said they were evacuated along with several other residents to a nearby parking lot by Dick’s Sporting Goods. They first heard sirens around 11:13 a.m. The viewer said a large police presence was focused on four buildings, containing 12 units each on the Aspen Square Apartments property.
