Officials in Florida are searching for a 10-year-old girl who went missing last Thursday evening.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said 10-year-old Trinity Eslinger, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, was reportedly last seen between O’Steen Beach and the L Jetties in Destin.
According to a GoFundMe set up by Trinity’s aunt, the family was on vacation when the girl was swept up by a current. She said her mom tried to do everything she could to save her.
Authorities issued an Aqua Alert and have deployed two vessels and 10 divers, who conducted a total of 24 dives.
Beach Patrol Units have also searched the shoreline, and Community Resource Deputies were deployed to help fill the operational gaps in the search.
“This remains a heartbreaking time for Trinity’s loved ones and our community. Our deputies, alongside an incredible team of first responder partners, are working around the clock — on the water, in the air, and along the shore,” the OCSO said.
A volunteer group, Daphne Search and Rescue, also assisted in Sunday’s search.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has sent a fixed-wing airplane to aid in the search from Sunday to Monday.
“We know that this is an incredibly difficult time for Trinity’s family and for our entire community,” the OCSO stated in its update.
