According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred after a suspect allegedly carjacked a victim near the Idaho-Washington state line, where the incident began.
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane County sheriff’s deputies, Spokane police and Washington State Patrol (WSP) are responding to a crash that has shut down the intersection of Pines Road and East Trent Avenue and damaged a traffic signal. The crash happened at the intersection of East Trent Avenue and North Pines Road on Highway 290. The Washington State Department of Transportation reports the westbound right lane is blocked at milepost 8.5 near Highway 27. The closure began at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday and remains in effect until further notice. The traffic signal at the intersection is dark due to damage from the crash. Drivers are reminded that a dark signal should be treated as a four-way stop. WSP is on scene, and WSDOT signal crews are en route to make repairs.
