MANORLANDS, Utah (KUTV) — A 2-year-old boy reported missing Saturday was later found dead in a runoff drainage channel. Deputies have ruled the incident “a tragic accident.” Summit County Sheriff’s deputies said dispatch received a report of the missing boy in the Manorlands area — 50 miles east of Kamas — at 10:15 a.m. on June 14. A resident reportedly found the child unresponsive in a drainage channel near Highway 50. Emergency personnel responded and transported him to a hospital in Wyoming. He was later transferred to a Salt Lake City-area hospital, where he died. Deputies said the boy had been staying with family in a camper trailer near a cabin in the Manorlands area. He was found about one mile downstream from the campsite. “At this time, there is no indication that the incident is anything other than a tragic accident,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Deputies extended condolences to the family and thanked first responders in Wyoming for their assistance. The investigation is ongoing.
