Emergency alert issued for Sibley County, near where Boelter’s belongings found

SIBLEY COUNTY, Minn. — Authorities have issued an emergency alert in Sibley County, where some of the belongings of shooting suspect Vance Boelter have been found. “MN Shooter’s suspects vehicle located near MN HWY 25 and 301 Ave. in Faxon TWP, Sibley County,” says the alert. Boelter has not been located and the alert asks that people in the area keep their doors locked and vehicles secured.

Law Enforcement will be going to homes in the area and asking to search properties, according to the alert. The manhunt for Boelter continues after what authorities called a targeted shooting that killed Rep. Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) and her husband, Mark, stretched into Sunday. State Sen. John Hoffman of Champlin and his wife, Yvette, were also shot multiple times in a related shooting and are recovering, officials say. Both couples were shot at their homes, and police believe the shooter was posing as a law enforcement officer. Authorities identified the suspect as 57-year-old Vance Boelter, and the FBI issued a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Boelter is described as a white man with brown hair.
