A six-year-old child died after a Polaris side-by-side rolled over in a parking lot when the driver lost control.
On Sunday, Gainsville police officers were dispatched at about 5:03 p.m. to a report of a major accident in the 3100 block of East U. S. Highway 82 involving a 4×4 rollover with multiple children injured.
The report said a preliminary investigation of the incident indicated that four boys, ages six to 13, were riding in a Polaris side-by-side utility vehicle in a parking lot when the driver lost control. The Polaris rolled over, ejecting the occupants.
When officers arrived, CPR had already been started on one of the occupants, who was reported to be 6 years of age.
Medical services transported all four children to the hospital. One child was air lifted to a metroplex hospital, and two were treated locally. The 6-year-old succumbed to his injuries, according to Gainesville PD.
This accident is still being investigated at this time.
