5-year-old girl survives crash after traffic stop in Lilburn, police say

LILBURN, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Lilburn police say a 5-year-old girl is lucky to be alive after a crash Monday.

Police said an officer tried to make a traffic stop on a “wanted felony suspect” on Beaver Ruin Road around 2 p.m. Monday. The man drove away, but police said the officer did not chase him.

According to police, the man crashed and rolled his car on Arcado Road. He then pulled a five-year-old girl out of the car and ran into the woods. He eventually surrendered with the child.

The child was allegedly not in a car seat at the time of the crash. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The man was arrested, according to police.
