Four people died Wednesday when a car rear-ended a semitrailer on Interstate 70 in eastern Colorado.
Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash on eastbound I-70 at mile marker 348 west of Limon to find that four passengers of a Subaru Forester, including two children, died after their car hit the semitrailer.
The driver of the car was transported to a local hospital and their condition is unknown. The driver of the semitrailer was not injured, according to State Patrol.
The eastbound lanes of the interstate are closed at exit 316 through exit 348 due to the crash, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Traffic is being detoured onto U.S. 36 near Byers.
The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading an investigation into the crash.
