DETROIT – Two people have been charged with murder in a triple shooting at Skinner Park that left two people dead and another injured.
Brandon Lee Ware, 18, and William McKinley Wheeler, 19, are facing murder charges in the deadly shooting.
The shooting happened at 6:21 p.m. on June 27, 2025, at Skinner Park in Detroit. Police said the shooting happened after an “altercation” on a bus where a person took a ski mask off Ware’s head.
Ware left the bus and went to Raid Street. He got in a truck driven by Wheeler, and they drove to Duchess Street, where Ware is accused of opening fire at people in the park.
Davlyon Shalmonson-Bey, 18, and Samir Josiah Grubbs, 4, were both killed. A 17-year-old boy was also injured.
Samir was at the park with his mother, his friend, and his four siblings.
Ware and Wheeler were arrested on July 2, 2025. They have each been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of assault with intent to murder, two counts of discharge from a vehicle causing death, one count of discharge from a vehicle causing serious injury, and five counts of felony firearm.
They were arraigned in 36th District Court on Saturday and remanded to jail. They are expected back in court on July 14.
