Jul. 2, 2025 — MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (WWBT)- Hanover deputies have arrested four people in connection with a fight that involved a gun last week.
On June 24, just before 8:30 p.m., deputies arrived at the 7500 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike in Old Mechanicsville for a reported fight involving a firearm.
When deputies arrived, everyone involved had fled. Based on witness statements and video footage, investigators determined that four boys, between the ages of 16 and 20, beat up a 19-year-old. During the incident, one hit another in the head with a gun, causing the weapon to fire.
Three teens and one adult from Ashland have now been arrested and charged in connection with the assault. All three juveniles were taken into custody and taken to Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.
The one adult suspect, Brandon Lee Drake, 18 of Ashland, Va., was taken into custody on June 27 and has been charged with attempted malicious wounding, assault by mob and a couple of gun charges.
This investigation remains active, and additional charges are possible.
