TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) – The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a disagreement led to a man getting shot on July 22.
Around 11:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Baptist-Tipton Hospital about a gunshot victim.
The victim told the deputies that he was at a friend’s home on the 1800 block of Bringle Road when the two began to argue.
The victim said his friend, Matthew Pierce, 18, took a pistol and shot him.
Pierce was detained shortly after the deputies arrived, and they retrieved the gun he used on the scene.
Pierce was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with injury and is being held on a $1 million bond.
He will appear in court on July 29 at 9:00 a.m.
“Mr. Pierce will eventually have his day in court, but I hope he has plenty of time to reflect on the decision he made to shoot a friend over a disagreement…a decision that could have turned deadly,” said Sheriff Shannon Beasley. “The victim is lucky, and it appears he will recover in due time. We offer him and his family our prayers and wish him a speedy recovery.”
