18-year-old driver arrested after deadly three-vehicle crash in Aurora

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – An 18-year-old was arrested Wednesday after a car crash killed two people in Aurora.

According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Airport Boulevard and East Alameda Avenue at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl dead on the scene.

The investigation determined Olvin Lidenis Carcamo-Meza, 18, was driving north on South Airport Boulevard in a black Audi sedan when he failed to stop for a red light, hitting a white Hyundai sedan occupied by the two victims heading west on Alameda Avenue.

A Toyota sedan, which was stopped in a turn lane, was hit after the initial crash. The driver had minor injuries.

Police say Carcamo-Meza had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, and arrested after being released.

Carcamo-Meza was booked into the Aurora Municipal Detention Center on two charges of vehicular homicide. Additional charges are pending further investigation.

Speed is being investigated as a contributing factor to the crash. Police say investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
