A 17-year-old motorcyclist was fatally struck Tuesday afternoon by a vehicle on West Main Street in Babylon, Suffolk police say.
An initial report from police says Robert Buerkle, of West Babylon, was driving a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle when he was struck by a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck that was turning onto West Main Street from Tappan Avenue.
Buerkle was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. Victor Hanson, 84, the driver of the pickup truck, was not injured.
