1 person dead in downtown Clayton crash

According to law enforcement, the car plowed through a dead end road.

CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) — One person was killed in a crash that took place in downtown Clayton.

It happened near the intersection of North Front Street and North Lombard Street.

According to law enforcement, the car plowed through a dead end road, took out a mechanical box and left live wires in the grass.

The car then went over the railroad tracks and down a steep hill before ending up in the front lawn of a home.

A nearby neighbor told ABC11 they woke up to police lights and was shocked the car ended up where it did.
